Iran, Kuwait discuss ways of expanding bilateral ties

Iran's Foreign Minister Ali-Akbar Salehi conferred in here on Wednesday with Speaker of Kuiwait's National Assembly Jassem al-Kharafi on issues of mutual interest.

Salehi said in the meeting that his visit to Kuwait was a good opportunity for reviewing ways to strengthen bilateral relations.

He further presented a message of friendship from Iran's Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani to al-Kharafi.

Salehi then called his talks with the Kuwaiti Emir Sabah al-Ahmad al-Jabir al-Sabah as fruitful.

Iran's foreign minister had met with the emir of Kuwait before meeting al-Kharafi.

This is Salehi's first travel to Kuwait after his appointment as Iran's foreign minister on December 13, 2010.

The Iranian foreign minister, heading a delegation, left Tehran for Kuwait City Wednesday morning.

In the past two weeks, the Iranian foreign minister has visited several regional countries including Oman, Qatar, the UAE and Iraq.
