Chief of Azerbaijan State Committee for Work with Religious

Associations meets special representative of the Patriarch of Georgia
Baku, May 19 (AzerTAc). Chief of the Azerbaijan State Committee for Work with Religious Associations Hidayat Orujov has met with special representative of Georgian Patriarch, Bishop Arkady Khachidze and Georgian ambassador to the country Teymuraz Sharashenidze.
The meeting featured discussions on bilateral cooperation in religious sphere, current state of the Georgian Orthodox churches in Azerbaijan, the activity of religious communities and other issues, according to the Azerbaijan State Committee for Work with Religious Associations.
Hidayat Orujov said that all conditions are created in Azerbaijan for the activities of the Georgian Orthodox communities like other faiths, and there are no problems in this regard. He stressed two state-registered Georgian Orthodoxies operate freely in Gakh region of Azerbaijan.
Chief of the Committee underlined that Azerbaijan non-Muslim religious communities are entitled to obey to centers located abroad. “There are no restrictions for any community in this regard. Even the minority religious communities function this way,” Hidayat Orujov said.
Also other Issues of mutual interest were discussed at the meting.
