PKB SUPPORTERS OF GUS DUR VERSION PLAN TO SIEGE REGIONAL KPU OFFICES
Purwakarta, Sept 8 (ANTARA) - Supporters of the National Awakening Party of Abdurahman Wahid alias Gus Dur version planned to siege and occupy the office of General Election Commission of Purwakarta district (KPUD), if its management is biased and no longer professional.
"This should be carried out following Gus Dur's instruction to siege KPU offices," Agus Marzuki, Chairman of the Purwakarta PKB chapter of Gus Dur version said here on Sunday.
It was reported the decision to siege and occupy the KPUD office would be carried out in line with the professionalism of KPUD officials in performing their tasks.
"If the KPUD is unprofessional and biased, we will obey Gus Dur's instruction to siege and occupy the KPUD office," he said.
In implementing their task, Agus hoped that KPUD would not take sides in verifying the legislative nominees, namely not only nominees of Muhaimin that should be verified but also those of the Gus Dur version.
General Chairman of the Advisory Council of the National Awakening Party (PKB) Abdurahman Wahid (Gus Dur) instructed their supporters to siege the General Election Commission (KPU) office.
Earlier, Gus Dur instructed his supporters to siege and occupy the KPU office because of their ignorance," said Gus Dur during a press conference at the PKB office.
According to him, KPU has played tricks against his side by belittling their rights. "Surround and siege the KPU offices to make them follow the rules."
Ibrani, Gus Dur's lawyer, said KPU should obey the decision of the state administrative court which has instructed KPU to postpone the implementation of a decision on the handing over of a list of addresses and names of participating political parties in the 2009 general election especially in the context of PKB.
In the decision, KPU said the executives of PKB consisted of Muhaimin Iskandar as the general chairman, and Lukman Edy as secretary general with address at Jalan Sukabumi 23 Menteng (previous office of Muhaimin), but not Jalan Kalibata Timur I No 12.
"What was registered at the Justice and Human Rights Ministry, was the PKB Executive Board office at Jalan Kalibata Timur I No 12," he said.
Agus Wiyarto, chairman of the Yogyakarta regional branch of PKB, said that KPU has made such a serious blunder by passing on a request from PKB signed by Muhaimin regarding the moving of the party's headquaters from Kalibata to Jalan Sukabumi in Menteng.
"The issuance of the KPU letter has been capitalized on by Muhaimin and Lukman Edy to issue various decisions on the change of the executives of the party's regional and district branches," he said.
