GOVT TO WITHDRAW US$2.67 BILLION IN PROJECT LOANS IN 2009
Jakarta, Sept 8 (ANTARA) - The National Development Planning Board (Bappenas) has projected that the government would withdraw project loans amounting to US$2.67 billion or about Rp24.9 trillion in 2009.
"The amount will be used to finance the 2009 state budget deficit which totals Rp99.6 trillion, or about 1.9 percent of the gross domestic product (GDP)," Wismana Adi Suryabrata of the Bappenas said here on Sunday.
He said that the projection in the withdrawal of foreign loans was made based on the rupiah exchange rate assumption at Rp9,100 per US dollar.
According to Wismana, the projection was also based on the progress disbursement of the multi-year financing of those projects.
"The biggest allocation would go to the Ministry of Public Works which totals US$934 million or about Rp8.5 trillion," he added.
He said that the Ministry of Public Works got the biggest allocation because the government was giving priorities to the development of infrastructure, such the development of education and capacity.
"Actually, the progress of disbursement for a project was also a factor used to decide the amount of allocation for the project concerned next year," he added.
On the other hand the amount of withdrawal next year would be Rp46 trillion while the remaining would be covered by withdrawing Rp21.2 trillion in program loans, he said.
