Judiciary Seeks Specialized Help in CIA Spy Case

TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian Judiciary Spokesman Gholam-Hossein Mohseni Ejei said judges studying the case of the CIA spy network are assisted by national security specialists.
Ejei told FNA on Monday that in these cases, where state security is at stake, security specialists offer assistance to judges and provide professional advice to help the case move forward.
The Iranian Intelligence Ministry announced on Saturday that it had identified and disbanded a large US spy network with tens of centers, cells and nodes in different world countries, adding that it has arrested 30 spies and identified 42 CIA field officers and operatives during the operation.
In a statement released on Saturday, the Intelligence Ministry said it could disband a "complex sabotage and espionage network affiliated to the US spy agency (CIA) following a series of extensive intelligence and counter-espionage measures and operations inside and outside Iran".
Later reports said that the spies intended to stage sabotage operations in nuclear and communication facilities and installations, air and defense industries, shipping facilities, airports, Iran's power grid and facilities, oil and gas networks and the stock market as well as other infrastructures.
The CIA spy network picked those people for its spying goals who had access to the country's data and information or those who were able to establish links with high-ranking officials of the country.
The network had established some major cells in Turkey, the UAE and Malaysia to collect information from Iranian expatriates and travelers.
Iranian intelligence ministry officials also said that after a series of measures the Iranian intelligence forces could fool and mislead the CIA ranking officers in the aforementioned three countries and could extract useful information from these officers about their planned moves in the region.
