Iran, Algeria survey ground for cooperation in olive trees plantation

A delegation of technicians from IRI Agricultural Jihad Ministry and a team of Algerian Agriculture and Rural Development Ministry here Monday surveyed ground for bilateral cooperation in plantation and expansion of olive tree gardens in both countries.


According to IRNA from Algiers, the delegation of technicians from the IRI Agricultural Jihad Ministry in their visit of Algeria have seen the olive tree gardens in Jolfa Province in the south of this country, as well as the Research Institute and Olive Processing Factory in Bajayah city in the north of Algeria.
Olive experts of the two countries meanwhile presented their reports on the outcomes of the conducted scientific works and research projects on olive plantation in Iran and Algeria.
The Algerian side in the meeting elaborated on the programs and achievements of the Olive Gardens Expansion Research Institute, announcing readiness for cooperation and exchange of experience with the Iranian research centers in all fields of mutual interest, particularly in the field of olive plantation.
The Iranian and Algerian delegations reached agreement on cooperation in all possible fields, particularly in olive plantation and processing fields, and that the respective reached agreements between the two counties’ officials had to be implemented as soon as possible.
Algeria has implemented olive tree plantation projects at 46 provinces of the country, save for such dry provinces as Ilizi and Tamanrast, so as to increase its 300,000 hectares of olive gardens into some one million hectares.
The Islamic Republic of Iran, too, has during the past ten years increased the area of its olive gardens from 40,000 hectares into
140,000.
