Larijani re-elected as Majlis Speaker
Ali Larijani was re-elected for the fourth time as the Speaker of Iran's Parliament (Majlis) Wednesday winning the majority of votes in Majlis open session.
Being the single candidate for the post, Larijani, 54, won 212 votes out of the 244 cast votes this morning.
He has accomplished post graduate studies at Ph.D on Western Philosophy and has previously served some major posts including the minister of culture and Islamic guidance, head of the state television, the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcast (IRIB) and Iran's top nuclear negotiator.
Prior to start his career in Majlis four years ago, Larijani was the Supreme Leader's representative to the Supreme National Security Council.
Meanwhile, Mohammad-Reza Bahonar and Shahabeddin Sadr were elected respectively as the first and second Vice-Speakers of Iran's national legislative body (Majlis).
Bahonar won the post getting 183 votes out of the total 250 cast votes while Sadr got 131 votes in favor.
This is the last year of the Majlis' 8th term.
