Commander: Iranian Youths Always Ready to Confront Enemies

TEHRAN (FNA)- A senior Iranian military commander underlined the Iranian youths' courage and preparedness to defend the country just as the older generation defended the country during the 1980-1988 Iraqi-imposed war on Iran when they were young.
"Our youths are still ready to confront any potential enemy aggression with the same morale (that they showed in the Iraqi-imposed war)," Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Ground Force Brigadier General Mohammad Pakpour said on Wednesday.

He made the remarks on the occasion of the anniversary of the liberation of the city of Khorramshahr

Former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein's forces captured the port city of Khorramshahr on October 26, 1980 in a surprise attack on the early days of Iraqi-imposed war on Iran (1980-1988) but Iranian forces liberated the city on 3rd of Khordad (May 24, 1982) in a massive military operation named 'Beit-al-moqaddas'.

Khoramshahr's liberation day is remembered and celebrated all throughout Iran every year.

General Pakpour further stressed the necessity of maintaining the revolutionary spirit among the Iranian youths, specially those who were born after the victory of the Islamic Revolution in 1979.
