Azeri ambassador to Pakistan meets Chairman of Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee
May 25 (AzerTAc). Azerbaijan`s ambassador to Pakistan Dashgin Shikarov has met Chairman of the country`s Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee Khalid Wynne.
The diplomat briefed Wynne on the ongoing economic reforms, army building process in Azerbaijan and negotiations to settle the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
Shikarov praised the fact that Pakistan unanimously supports Azerbaijan`s fair position on this problem and does not recognize Armenia as a state. He thanked the Pakistani government for backing Azerbaijan`s stance.
Wynne, in turn, said his country would always support Azerbaijan`s position on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. He noted Pakistan would not recognize Armenia as a state until the conflict is resolved.
On behalf of Defense Minister Safar Abiyev, the ambassador invited Wynne to visit Azerbaijan in the second half of the year.
For his part, Wynne said he would visit Azerbaijan this October.
