India, Africa to promote exchange of journos, academicians
From V Mohan Narayan
Addis Ababa, May 25 (PTI) India and Africa Wednesday
agreed to promote a large number of visits from editors and
journalists, academicians, scholars and civil society
representatives between the two sides.
In this respect, consideration will be given to the
training of African media personnel with a view to capacity
building and improving their skills, the Africa-India
Framework for Enhanced Cooperation which was adopted here
said.
It was noted that the depth and diversity of the
relationship between India and Africa have altered and the
traditional engagement has successfully moved towards a modern
functional partnership.
However, there remains an uneven recognition of this,
particularly in public mind which required to be addressed,
the document said.
At the same time, Africa needs greater opportunities
to bring its own media and communication to an independent
growth path in recognition of its multi-cultural and
multi-ethnic identities, it said.
