Audi introduces super luxury sedan A8 W12 in S. Korea
SEOUL, May 26 (Yonhap) -- Audi Korea, the South Korean unit of German carmaker Audi AG, on Thursday introduced its latest Audi A8 luxury passenger sedan that comes with the engine of a supercar.
The new Audi A8 W12 is equipped with a 12-cylinder, 6.3-liter gasoline engine that produces maximum horsepower of 500 and maximum torque of 63.8 kilogram-meters.
The vehicle has a zero to 100 kilometer-per-hour acceleration time of 4.7 seconds while achieving a fuel economy of 8 kilometers per liter, one of the highest for a car with an engine of its size.
"The new Audi A8 W12 is the most luxurious and prestigious sedan that is leading its segment in every aspect of a vehicle, including technology, efficiency, design and safety," Audi Korea president Trevor Hill said.
Audi Korea also plans to launch the sale of two new versions of the Audi A8 -- the A8L 4.2 FSI Quattro and 3.0 TFSI Quattro -- in the near future, he said.
The new Audi A8 W12 carries a price tag of 258 million won (US$235,600), inclusive of value-added tax. The A8L 4.2 FSI will be offered at 169 million won and the 3.0 TFSI model at 145 million won.
