Civil war in BJP: Cong

New Delhi (PTI) - Congress party on Saturday saw
the oubtreak of a "civil war" in Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)
following Sushma Swaraj's controversial remarks that appeared
to blame Arun Jaitley and others for the rise of the state's
mining barons and cabinet ministers the Reddy brothers.
"A civil war has begun in BJP. This is no difference of
policy and programme. They are fighting for themselves and it
is their internal power struggle", party leader Shakeel Ahmed
told reporters.
Ahmed suggested that the power struggle stems for the
desires of rival BJP leaders to become PM candidate in the
next Lok Sabha (lower house of Indian Parliament) elections.
While Swaraj is the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha,
Jaitley is her counterpart in the Rajya Sabha (upper house of
Parliament).
Party spokesman Manish Tewari spoke in similar vein.
"There was a prime minister-in-waiting in BJP, who is
continuing in waiting list since 2004 and the waiting list may
get longer by 2014", he said when asked whether Congress
sees the tussle in BJP as an attempt to be the 'face' of the
party in the next polls.
"BJP is not understanding a simple fact that the train
of power is now not going to halt at its station," he said
taking a dig at the main opposition whose national executive
is scheduled to start this week in Lucknow.
He said Swaraj's washing her hands off the induction of
Reddy brothers as ministers in Karnataka was like the "Neros
of BJP" fiddling in Delhi while Karnataka "burns".
"Swaraj's assertions once again underscore the fundamental
reality of BJP that money talks and Yeddy and Reddy
walk. While Karnataka burns with corruption, the Neros of BJP
fiddle in Delhi.
