PALU'S FRIED ONION ENTERS WORLD MARKET

Palu, C Sulawesi, Sept 8 (ANTARA) - Fried onion from Palu, Central Sulawesi, has entered the world market for its unique flavour, a local official said here Monday.
Head of Central Sulawesi's Investment Coordinating Board, M Hadjir Hadde, said that the fried onion was always included in national and international exhibitions so that it became widely known.
In several occasions, he said many foreigners such as those from France, Malaysia and China were interested in the product and bought it as a gift to their countries.
"Palu's fried onion has been widely known since then," Hadjir said.
He added that the Central Sulawesi administration always encouraged the producers to improve their products' quality and increase the quantity so as to attract prospective buyers especially those from abroad.
"The quality improvement is particularly on its taste and packaging," he continued.
The products could easily be found here at supermarkets with various prices ranging from US$16.12 to US$18.82 per kilogram depending on the quality.
Palu's fried onion of top quality could last until a year and even another year longer without changing its flavour and aroma if it was wrapped using aluminium foil and stored in a refrigerator.
