Iran welcomes restructuring political balance in ME region

Beirut, May 31, IRNA -- Iran on Monday welcomed restructuring political balance of the Middle East, a reference to the Islamic awakening movements in the regional states.

Head of Iranian Parliament's Foreign Policy Commission Alaeddin Boroujerdi said the Islamic awakening movements have changed political equation of the Middle East.

Boroujerdi made the remarks in a meeting with Lebanese Member of Parliament Hakob Bagratuni in Beirut.

He said Lebanon enjoys high status in the Islamic Republic of Iran's public opinion and foreign policy.

Boroujerdi cited the two countries enjoy deep-rooted affinity and longstanding relations.

He said that there are huge capacities for economic, cultural, social and political cooperation between the two countries.

Boroujerdi said that the parliaments play key role to upgrade economic and cultural cooperation, calling for closer cooperation between parliaments of Iran and Lebanon./end
