Official Thanks Iran's Companionship, Support for Pakistan
TEHRAN (FNA)- Speaker of Punjab Assembly Rana Muhammad Iqbal appreciated Iran's support for Pakistan, and underscored that his country's people are proud of their strong friendly ties with Iran.
Addressing a dinner banquet thrown in honor of the visiting Governor-General of Iran's Northeastern Khorassan province, Iqbal said that Iran has stood by Pakistan through thick and thin and provided support to Pakistan during initial years.
Iqbal said that Iran is a brotherly country whose rich culture and traditions have influenced other countries' literatures and languages, specially in South Asia.
Terming Iranian revolution a unique incident in the history of 20th century, the speaker observed that the revolution had changed lives of millions of Iranians.
He noted that Iranian leadership was poised to make their country an enlightened entity among the comity of nations.
Referring to centuries-old historical and cultural relations between Pakistan and Iran, Rana said that people of Pakistan cherished their friendship with Iran.
He said that there was vast scope of cooperation in the fields of agriculture, live stock, energy and other sectors between the two countries.
"The Muslim Ummah (nation)," he said, "should make collective efforts for the solution of their major problems such as terrorism, unemployment and poverty."
