Azeri FM meets UN Secretary General
Baku, June 1 (AzerTAc). Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov has met with United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon on Tuesday as a part of his US visit.
UN official highlighted existence of high-level cooperation between UN and Azerbaijan.
The Azeri FM briefed Ban Ki-moon on negotiations process to settle Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
In his turn, UN Secretary General underlined the importance of finding a peaceful settlement to the conflict as soon as possible.
Mammadyarov noted Azerbaijan put forward its candidacy for a non-permanent seat in the UN Security Council for the 2012-2013 terms. The Minister let the Secretary General know about advantages of Azerbaijan`s membership bid.
