Azeri FM attends OIC group meeting

Baku, June 1 (AzerTAc). Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov has attended Group meeting of Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) in New York on Tuesday as a part of his US visit.
Chairman of the meeting, Permanent Representative of Tajikistan to the United Nations noted Azerbaijan is one of the active members of the organization.
The Azeri FM noted Azerbaijan seeks a non-permanent seat on the UN Security Council for the 2012-2013s and called on the OIC members to support Azerbaijan`s bid.
Azerbaijan`s role in the region, as well as in realization of energy and transportation projects was noted in the meeting. The speakers underlined as part of the Islamic world, Azerbaijan contributes to inter-civilization dialogue.
Mammadyarov briefed the participants on the negotiations process to settle Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno Karabakh conflict.
The Azeri FM expressed regret over the fact that Armenia doesn’t honor UN Security Council`s four resolutions on unconditional withdrawal of the Armenian armed forces from the occupied territories of Azerbaijan.
