18th session of UNESCO`s International Bioethics Committee wraps up in Baku

Baku, June 2 (AzerTAc). 18th session of International Bioethics Committee (IBC) of UNESCO has today ended.
In the closing session Chairman of the IBC Working Group Toivo Maimets made report on Human Cloning and International Governance.
The participants discussed IBC work programme for 2012-2013, illegal sale of human organs, as well as noted the importance of establishment of national bioethics committees.
Mahmud Karimov, the president of Azerbaijan National Academy of Science (ANAS) noted the session would contribute to the development of bioethics and expansion of international cooperation in the relevant sphere.
Secretary-General of the National Commission of Azerbaijan for UNESCO Gunay Afandiyeva expressed satisfaction with Baku`s hosting such important event. She particularly underlined President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, UNESCO and ISESCO Goodwill ambassador Mehriban Aliyeva`s role in the development of UNESCO-Azerbaijan relations.
Pilar Alvarez-Laso, assistant director general for Social and Human Sciences introduced new elected chairperson and the members of the IBC to the participants.
