Iran's deputy of foreign minister confers with Sri Lankan president

Tehran, June 7, IRNA -- Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Asia and the Pacific Mohammad Ali Fathollahi in Colombo on Monday conferred with Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapkse.
Fathollahi delivered a written message from Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to his Sri Lankan counterpart.
During the meeting, the two sides called for expansion of mutual ties in all arenas.
The deputy foreign minister for Asia and the Pacific of Islamic Republic of Iran also held talks with several Sri Lankan high-ranking officials including ministers of foreign affairs, economic development, justice, trade and industry, parliament speaker and members of parliamentary friendship group.
The Iranian and Lankan officials called for the meeting of the second political consultative committee and the tenth conference of joint economic commission in near future./end
