Russian embassy marks country`s national holiday

Baku, June 10 (AzerTAc). The Russian embassy to Azerbaijan has organized Thursday an official reception on the occasion of national holiday of the country, Russia Day.
Speaking to the ceremony, ambassador Vladimir Dorokhin hailed development of Azerbaijan-Russia relations, which he stressed “based on the strategic partnership, and active dialogue between the presidents Dmitry Medvedev and Ilham Aliyev”.
Touching upon economic relations between the two countries, the Russian diplomat said Russia is the main economic partner in the oil sector.
He also underlined importance of attention to the Russian language in Azerbaijan, and increasing interest to Azerbaijani culture in Russia.
Speaking on Armenia Azerbaijan conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh, Dorokhin stressed “there is a good chance for the serious agreement on the settlement of the dispute”, adding Russia will do its best to appreciate this chance.
Azerbaijani Minister of Justice Fikrat Mammadov congratulated the Russian people on behalf of President Ilham Aliyev.
He, in turn, praised Azerbaijan-Russia relations, saying “these ties are based on the firm foundation”.
He underlined the foundation of bilateral relations was laid by national leader Heydar Aliyev, He stressed the importance of reciprocal visits of the heads of state in expansion of the relationship.
The reception brought together a number of officials, including Azerbaijani MPs, representatives of diplomatic corps accredited in the country.
