ASEAN CHARTER HELPS INDONESIA'S ECONOMIC GROWTH
Jakarta, Sept 10 (ANTARA) - Trade Minister Mari Elka Pangestu explained Commissions I and III of the House of Represenatives the benefits of the ASEAN Charter to the Indonesian economy here Tuesday.
The ASEAN Charter provides a legal basis for the settlement of the country's economic problems, she said.
In the two and a half hours hearing, Mari was seated next to Foreign Minister Hasan Wirayudha during the ratification of the Asean Charter, confronting the House leadership members.
Not all of their questions were answered right away, but would be given later in writing.
She said the AC for instance, had raised the Indonesian economic growth from USD 10.73 million in 2003 to USD 20.7 million in 2007, covering food, handicraft goods, garments, furniture and small businesses
