Be acquainted to deal with challenges: Prez to armed forces
Dehra Dun, Jun 11 (PTI) Indian President Pratibha
Patil Saturday said threats to the country's security are
"constantly changing" and asked the armed forces to be well
acquainted to deal with such challenges.
"The nature of warfare on the battlefield is
constantly changing, as indeed are the various threats to our
national security," she said, addressing the passing out
parade of 546 Gentlemen Cadets at the Indian Military Academy
(IMA) here in the northern Indian state Uttarakhand.
"The Army today must be fighting fit, and at the same
time well acquainted to deal with the challenges of the
knowledge era that we are living in," she said.
Patil asked the cadets to place the safety, honour and
welfare of the country first "when they are faced with doubts,
temptations, dilemmas and uncertainties."
She also asked the young officers to display "sterling
leadership" in their conduct.
