Iranian Wrestlers Win 2 Gold Medals in Junior Asian Championships

TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian youth freestyle wrestlers bagged two gold medals in Indonesia's 2011 Junior Asian Wrestling Championships.
Alireza Hatami in the 50-kilogram category and Jaber Sadeqzadeh in the 120-kilogram bagged two golds for the Iranian squad in Jakarta on Saturday.

Hatami downed his Indian rival in the final match, and Sadeqzadeh knocked out a wrestler from South Korea with only 30 seconds into the match for the top medal.

Six other Iranian wrestlers are scheduled to take on rivals on Sunday.

On Friday, Iranian wrestlers sealed the Greco-Roman title of the event with six gold medals and a silver.

Iran's Greco-Roman team finished first for the eighth time in the past nine years, followed by Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan, respectively.

Earlier in May, the Iranian senior Greco-Roman wrestling team was crowned as the Asian champion and Iranian senior free-style wrestlers claimed the second place in the 2011 Senior Asian Wrestling Championships in Uzbekistan.

The Islamic Republic has submitted bids to host the world wrestling championships in 2013 and the Asian Championships in 2015.
