Supreme Leader pardons, commutes prison terms of 996 inmates
Tehran, June 15, IRNA -- On the auspicious birth anniversary of Imam Ali (AS), the first Imam of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) Infallible Household, the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei pardoned or commuted prison terms of 996 inmates.
According to the Supreme Leader's office, the amnesty was granted upon a request made by Judiciary chief Ayatollah Sadeq Amoli Larijani.
The Judiciary chief requested the Supreme Leader to pardon and commute the prison terms of 996 prisoners sentenced by the revolutionary and public courts./end
