PRESIDENT TRIES OUT COMMUNITY TRAIN
Madiun, Sept 10 (ANTARA) - During his visit to state rolling stock making company PT INKA in Madiun, East Java, President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono tried out KA Communitas, a community train produced by the company as a mode of Lebaran transportation this year.
President Yudhoyono's presence at the PT INKA complex was part of his Ramadan safari to visit a number of towns such as Madiun, Jombang, Surabaya and Gresik in East Java.
KA Komunitas was manufactured by PT INKA to replace KA Sapujagat which was used in previous years to carry Lebaran (the other name for Idul Fitri) home-going travelers.
"With more mature preparations the Lebaran transportation service this year is expected to be better and more comfortable than in past years," President Yudhoyono said on board KA Komunitas on Wednesday.
The train, designed to replace KA Sapujagat, would be operated a few days before and after Lebaran day.
Especially for Lebaran transportation this year, the government through the Transportation Ministry has ordered at least 25 economy-class coaches and 20 executive class coaches from PT INKA.
"All coaches for executive- , business- , economy-class and Komunitas trains have been completed by PT INKA and they are now ready for use," the company's president director, Roos Diatmoko, said.
