NON-OIL AND GAS EXPORTS SURPASS 50 PCT OF TARGET
Jakarta, Sept 10 (ANTARA) - Indonesia's non-oil and gas exports reached US$54.4 billion until June 2008, exceeding the 50 percent target of US$102 billion.
"Our non-oil and gas exports have been increasing in the past four years by an average 18 percent," secretary general of the trade ministry, Ardiansyah Parman, said at a meeting with the House's Commission VI here on Wednesday.
He said Indonesia's total non-oil and gas exports in 2007 reached US$92 billion, a 18 percent increase compared to that in 2004.
He said if the value of the country's non-oil and gas exports doubled, it would surpass the target.
The volume the country's non-oil and gas exports rose 1.7 times compared to 2004. The volume of the exports grew by more than 100 percent, he said.
He said non-oil and gas exports reached 160 million tons comprising textile, rubber, automotive products, jewelry and handicraft goods.
"Non-oil and gas exports to China and Taiwan rose sharply compared to those to the US, Japan, Europe and Singapore in 2007," he said.
He said exports to these countries reached US$26 billion or 20 percent of the country's total exports.
