BAMBANG HENDARSO MEETS CONDITIONS FOR POLICE CHIEF, PRESIDENTIAL SPOKESMAN SAYS
Madiun, Sept 10 (ANTARA) - Presidential spokesman Andi Malarangeng said here on Wednesday that Bambang Hendarso Danuri was one of the candidates picked by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono for the post of national police chief.
"Pak (Mr) Bambang who is the current chief of the national police's criminal intelligence certainly meets the requirements in terms of rank, seniority, integrity and experience," he said at Hotel Merdeka where President Yudhoyono spent the night on his Ramadhan tour of East Java.
Andi said the president had considered inputs from various sides including the Police Commission. From several candidates, the president had picked Bambang Hendarso and it had been submitted to the House of Representatives for approval.
Minister State Secretary Hatta Radjasa who also joined the president's tour meanwhile said that the president had only submitted one candidate on the consideration that Bambang Hendarso would be the one to be accepted for the top police post.
He believed Bambang would be accepted in view of the conditions he had met.
He said that by submitting only one name it did not mean that there was a leadership crisis in the police force.
Bambang Hendarso would replace General Sutanto whose term would come to an end soon. The two that evening held a meeting with President Yudhoyono at the hotel.
