Defense minister leaves Kabul for Tehran

Kabul, June 20, IRNA – Iran's Defense Minister Brigadier-General Ahmad Vahidi left Kabul for Tehran late Sunday after a two-day official visit to that country.
Vahidi, who had arrived in Afghanistan on a 2-day visit to Kabul on Saturday, met with Afghan President Hamid Karzai, his deputies, the defense and interior ministers, as well as the secretary of Afghanistan Security Council.
Vahidi and the Afghan officials emphasized regional cooperation for stabilizing security and ensuring Afghanistan's development.
This is the first time an Iranian defense minister visited Afghanistan. Vahidi's visit was very crucial due to the current political and military developments in the Middle East./end
