CJ urges SC should not be burdened with everything

ISLAMABAD, June 20, 2011 (PPI): While calling for stopping injustices against journalists, the chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry asked the government the apex count should not be burdened with everything.

Resuming the hearing of journalist Saleem Shehzad’s murder case here on Monday, he said that the government letters bearing the names of the judges proposed to be the commission members were received.

“In our opinion, the government should be allowed to do its job,” the chief justice remarked, conforming that the government’s letters on the formation of commission to investigate Shehzad’s killing has been received.”

Chief Justice said that everything should not come to the court as the government should have to do its job.

While criticising the torture of another journalist who was beaten up severely on Sunday, he urged that the injustices against journalists should be stopped, as the incidents of torturing journalist increased.

The chief justice said that the both the commissions, on Abbottabad and Saleem Shehzad, would work under the Supreme Court judges.

Babar Awan the Government lawyer told the august court that the government wanted a transparent inquiry into the both the incidents in order to bring the responsible to limelight.
