BOGOR STARTS USING BIODIESEL ON PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION
Bogor, W. Java, Sept 11 (ANTARA) - The Bogor city administration has been using used cooking oil as a mixture with fuel into biofuel of "Trans Pakuan" buses, sources said here Thursday.
"Besides decreasing the air polution, the city of Bogor made a pioneering effort of using biofuel for public transportation," Eddy Rusjadi, the city administration's spokesman, told Antara.
He said the Bogor administration had make a eal effort in decreasing air pollution by operating mass transportation "Trans Pakuan" buses since June 2007.
The UN has appreciated the Bogor city administration for decreasing global warming effects and its active participation in the Commission on Sustainable International Climate Environmental Initiative (ICLEI).
Used cooking oil is also introduced for mixture into bio-diesel as environmentally friendly fuel.
According to reliable data, biodiesel is not hazardous or biodegradable and is produced from a chemical reaction of alcohol and vegetable oil through transeterification.
Pure or mixed biofuel can be used on diesel engines and proven significantly to lessen carsinogenic vehicles emission.
