FM spokesman terms EU’s anti-Iran claims, baseless
Tehran, June 27, IRNA – Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast said here on Sunday that recent claims by the EU against Iran indicate its efforts to launch a smear propaganda campaign against Iran and distort realities about it.
According to a report by the ministry’s Information and Press Bureau, Mehmanparast reacted to ban imposed by EU on three Iranian officials in connection with developments in Syria and said that the Syrian nation and government enjoy political maturity and are capable enough to solve their problems.
Underlining Iran’s non-interference in Syria’s internal affairs, he also described the claims linking the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps to the Syrian developments as baseless.
He also criticized the West’s double-standard policies and called for revision of its tactics in Libya and cessation of massacre of civilian people in the country.
He also condemned suppression of peaceful demonstrations in Bahrain./end
