US tactics clear manifestation of terrorism: Jalili

Tehran, June 27, IRNA -- Secretary of Supreme National Security Council Saeed Jalili said that the US which is trying to intimidate nations using military, economic and media tactics is a clear manifestation of a terrorist.

In a meeting with Algerian Presidential Advisor Kamal Razaq Bara here in Tehran on Sunday, he noted that the Americans are seeking to make nations surrender to their illegitimate demands and avoid opposing their policies.

To this end they resort to various tactics such as sanctions, distorting facts and exerting economic pressures, he noted.

The US is seeking to suppress the independence and freedom of nations using illegal methods, he said, adding that recent developments in the region indicated that the US tactics were not effective and the nations are safeguarding their rights seriously.

Kamar Razaq Bara, for his part, said that terrorism should be defined in a clear manner and resistance should be distinguished from terrorism.

Resistance against the occupation is the indisputable right of nations, he said.

Razaq is in Tehran to take part in the International Conference on Global Fight against Terrorism which ended in Tehran on June 26.

The topics discussed during the conference included various aspects of fight against terrorism, reasons behind the increasing trend of terror acts in the world, challenges and obstacles in the way of fighting terrorism, and enhancing appropriate counter-terrorism means and strategies at regional and international levels./end
