Ahmadinejad: Iran, Cuba Share Common Views on Fight against Imperialism
TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad underlined the strong relations between Tehran and Havana, and said that the two countries are standing in the same front against imperialism.
"The Cuba-Iran front is strong and the two countries accompanied by other independent and freedom-seeking countries of the world have stood against imperialism and arrogant powers and will defend the rights of the nations," Ahmadinejad said in a meeting with Cuban Vice-President Esteban Lazo in Tehran on Monday.
He also stressed the necessity for the reinvigoration of cooperation between the two countries in cultural, economic, political and scientific fields, and announced Iran's readiness to transfer its experiences in the different sectors to the Cuban nation.
During the meeting, Lazo reiterated Iran's important role in the future of Latin America, and said, "Iran is a main partner of Cuba and we seek to promote the level of our ties with Iran in various spheres, specially in economic and trade arenas, as much as possible."
Ahmadinejad's administration has striven hard to maximize relations with the African continent and the Latin America.
In October, Cuba's Minister of Foreign Relations Bruno Rodriguez Parrila stressed the need for the further expansion and development of ties between his country and Iran, saying that a brilliant future is waiting for the two countries' ties.
Cuba attaches great importance to its ties with the Islamic Republic of Iran, Parrila told reporters at the time.
