Iranian MPs confer with German counterparts

Berlin, June 29, IRNA – The Iranian members of Iran-Germany Parliamentary Friendship Group here on Tuesday conferred with their German counterparts.
Head of the visiting Iranian delegation, Ali Adyanirad, underlined the need for expansion and deepening of ties between the two countries and said the Islamic Consultative Assembly (Majlis) welcomes boost in all-out cooperation between the two nations.
Referring to Tehran-Berlin ancient political, economic and cultural relations, he said Germany enjoys a positive position in the Iranian public opinion.
The MP regretted that since the West relys on news and information disseminated by anti-Iran media, it is unable to understand the reality of the Islamic Revolution.
He reiterated that the two parliaments can play a key and effective role in further expansion of bilateral ties between the two countries.
Meanwhile, the German head of Iran-Germany Parliamentary Friendship Group Elke Hoff supported the idea of promotion of bilateral cooperation in all areas and said exchange of political and parliamentary delegations can increase reciprocal understanding between the two nations.
She emphasized that exchange of delegations would help remove any possible misunderstandings between the two countries.
The Iranian delegation arrived in Berlin Monday morning on a five-day visit.
Members of the visiting delegation are scheduled to meet with head of foreign policy and national security commission of the German Parliament and officials from the country's Foreign Ministry./end
