Pakistani opposition leader calls for grand alliance against govt

Islamabad, July 3, IRNA – Pakistani opposition leader and former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Saturday said that a grand alliance must be constituted against the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) led government.
Talking to reporters, he said unprincipled politics had led Pakistan into troubled waters, which was why it was important to rid the country of the present government.
The Pakistan Muslim league-N chief also welcomed the Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s (MQM), a key political party, decision to join the opposition.
Former prime minister alleged that justice provided to the provinces by the 18th constitutional amendment has been violated by the unjust decisions of the government of Pakistan People's Party (PPP).
He termed it a worst example of arm twisting when seven ministries have been transferred to the provinces but the allocations of these ministries have been retained by the federation.
He said that peace in the country is linked with the peace in Balochistan and called for healing the wounds of the people of the province.
On a question regarding gas and power outages, Nawaz said the situation was resulting in huge losses to the country’s economy.
He said that the government is not interested in solving common man’s problems and now this kind of politics will not be tolerated.
He said that three years have passed and still the government has not been able to solve any problem./end
