Iran's Majlis speaker returns home

Tehran, July 3, IRNA – Majlis ( Iranian parliament) Speaker Ali Larijani, who paid a 2-day official visit to Azerbaijan Republic upon an invitation of his Azeri counterpart, returned home from Baku.

Upon arrival, Larijani told reporters at the Mehrabad Airport that he had talks with Azeri President, Prime Minister and Parliament Speaker.

He added that development of economic ties between Iran and Azerbaijan Republic, underlining sustainable tranquility in mutual ties, ways of cooperating between regional countries and consultations concerning regional developments were among the most important issues of his talks.

Larijani said that Azeri officials viewpoints on long term relations with Iran was very positive which is something natural due to friendly feelings between people of the two countries.

Concerning his meeting with Azeri counterpart Ogtay Asadov, Larijani said that increasing parliamentary cooperation was underlined in the meeting.

Larijani said that in the meeting with Azeri prime minister, they discussed increase in joint commission role in activities which can dispel doubts between the two countries.

He also said that Azeri parties representatives are willing to meet with Iranian political parties representatives.

Majlis Speaker also referred to his visit to the city of Ganjeh.

He concluded that negotiation between the two parliamentary delegations was useful and expressed hope that the issues of the talks can be followed up./end
