Surabaya, Indonesia, Sept 12 (ANTARA) - Minister/State Secretary Hatta Rajasa has asked the Attorney General's Office to continue the process of an alleged corruption case worth billions of rupiah that reportedly took place in the presidential secretariat in 2004.
"It was an old case which happened in a period before the government of President Susilo Bambang Yudoyono. So, let the legal process proceed in accordance with the legal norms. Of course, due respect must be paid to the presumption of innocence principle," Hatta Rajasa said here on Friday.
He said that the case, which was believed to have caused losses to the state amounting Rp9.071 billion, should serve as a lesson for all of the State Secretariat employees and officials in managing alloted budget.
Previously, the special crime affairs of the Attorney General's Office said it was investigating an alleged corruption case in the procurement of fire alarm devices and air conditioners in the State Secretariat.
The suspects in the case are identified by their initials as DJ P, former chief of Presidential Secretariat's Building and Equipment Affairs, KM, former chief of the Presidential House-Hold Affairs and RN, director of PT Indosil Multi Pratama.
