VP : RI'S WITHDRAWAL FROM OPEC NO PROBLEM
Jakarta, Sept 12 (ANTARA) - Vice President Jusuf Kalla said Indonesia's withdrawal from OPEC (Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries) was not a problem.
"It's alright for us to be outside (OPEC) for a while. Let's fix our oil problem, then we can become an oil exporter again," he said.
Earlier, on Sept 8, OPEC had approved Indonesia's request to pull out from the organization.
The vice president said as was indicated by its name, OPEC was an organization for oil exporting countries whereas Indonesia today was no longer an oil exporter.
"Now many people realize that Indonesia is no longer the oil-rich country that it was in the past," he said laughingly.
