POLICE SHOOT TO DEATH NIGERIAN DRUG DEALER SUSPECT
Jakarta, 13/9 (ANTARA) - Police have shot to death Nigerian Ricardo Mabuakor alias Steff or Steve who was susepcted to be an international-level drug dealer.
The director of drug affairs of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police, Senior Commissioner Arman Depari, said here on Friday Steve was shot to death in the Puncak hill resort, Bogor, West Java, at 3am when he tried to escape from the police.
"We brought Steve to Puncak to catch other suspects but he tried to escape so we shot him. He died after a bullet had hit his back," he said.
He said police seized Steve in a hotel in Central Jakarta and confiscated from him 100 grams of pure heroin.
Steve was nabbed following information from Viktor Thembo Macoba who was caught on Thursday on Jalan Jomas, Kembangan, West Jakarta, with 59.6 grams of heroin.
He said police also netted Steve's courier known as Mardiah on Jalan Sabang with 58.8 grams of heroin.
In another case, police on Thursday also shot to death a Nigerian identified as Oliver Ochechuwu alias Foday Taquray on suspicion of being an internationl-level drug dealer.
Taquaray was shot at his house on Jalan Mutiara Gading, Bekasi, West Java, at 1.45am and from him the police confiscated 100 grams of heroin.
According to police records, Taquaray had been operating in Jakarta since 2006 because his name had been mentioned by other suspects who were now in jail. Since then he had been put on the police's wanted list, he said.
