Iran-Turkey favor resolving Syria’s problems: Salehi

Tehran, July 11, IRNA -- Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi said on Sunday that Iran and Turkey are willing that Syria be provided with necessary assistance to help that country resolve its problems soon.
Salehi made the remark in response to a question by an IRNA correspondent who asked about the imminent visit of Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu to Iran.
Davutoglu arrived in Tehran late Sunday. Turkish foreign minister had visited Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Libya before departing for Tehran.
“The Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu is visiting Iran to discuss with Iranian officials the recent political developments of the region, particularly Syria,' Foreign Minister Salehi said.
He noted that if Syria as an important role-player in resistance against foreign aggression is harmed, the entirety of resistance will be harmed.
“We hope that the problems of Syria will be resolved soon so that the legitimate demands of the people are met and also some will be prevented from abusing Syria’s status quo that has been ccaused by foreign intervention,” Salehi added.
Asked about lifting the visa between Iran and Iraq, he said that the Iraqi citizens need to apply for Iran’s visa at the moment while expressing hope that one day the visa requirements between Iran and Iraq are lifted./end
