IAEA issues statement on Amano-Salehi meeting

Vienna, July 13, IRNA – International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) issued a statement concerning meeting between Director General of the Agency Yukiya Amano and Iran's Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi here on Tuesday.

According to the statement, the two sides discussed issues related to implementation of Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).

The statement said that Foreign Minister Salehi has expressed hope that the agency would consider the rest of issues with an innovative approach.

The statement said that the director general underlined again the agency's stance on issues related to Iran, which was reported to the Board of Governors last February.

It continued that the Iranian FM has said that the new approach can start after IAEA declares the end of Work Plan which was agreed on in the year 2007.

Amano has said that currently the situation (Work Plan) could not be considered as completed.

The statement concluded that the two sides underlined importance of continuation of talks./end
