Iran's special envoy in Moscow for talks on Caspian Sea affairs

Moscow, July 19, IRNA -- Iranian president’s special envoy on the Caspian Sea affairs, Mohammad-Mehdi Akhundzadeh, heading a delegation arrived in Moscow on Monday for talks on drafting Convention for the Caspian Sea.

Akhundzadeh is due to participate in the 29th session of the special working group for drafting a convention on the legal status of the Caspian Sea on July 19-20.

Representatives from Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan, Russia and Turkmenistan will participate in the event.

Akhundzadeh, who is also Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs, in the meantime is due to hold talks with Russian officials, discussing issues of mutual interest.

The Russian officials have expressed willingness to cooperate with Iran in the field of security, shipping and environment protection of the Caspian Sea.

The Caspian states have signed a framework convention on environment protection of the landlocked sea in 2003./end
