Prez to discuss nuke cooperation in South Korea, Mongolia
New Delhi, Jul 22(PTI) Talks on civil nuclear cooperation
will figure very high on the agenda when Indian President
Pratibha Patil holds talks with her South Korean and Mongolian
counterparts during her week-long visit to these two countries
 from Sunday.
"It (civil nuclear issue) is a topic which will
definitely be discussed. I think both the countries have
interest in this subject and it will definitely come up for
discussion between the two Presidents," Joint Secretary (East
Asia) in Indian Ministry of External Affairs Gautam H
Bambawale told reporters here on Friday.
"We have had a few rounds of discussions and
negotiations. Let us see how it proceeds during the visit," he
said when asked about the status of the proposed nuclear
agreement between India and South Korea.
Both India and South Korea had concluded their
negotiations on civil nuclear cooperation last year during a
meeting between Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and South Korean
President Lee Myung-bak on the sidelines of the ASEAN Summit
 in Hanoi.
Patil will be visiting South Korea between July 24-26 and
Mongolia from July 27-30. (more) PTI AKV

"A number of important agreements are likely to signed at
Seoul and Ullan Bator during the visit," MEA spokesperson
Vishnu Prakash said while briefing the media on the
President's visit aimed at enhancing India’s ties with the two
countries, especially in the field of nuclear sector and trade
 and investment.
Bilateral trade between India and South Korea grew more
than 40 percent in 2010 after operationalisation of the
Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) to touch
 21 billion dollars.
"It is well on course to attain the 30 billion dollar
mark by 2014.... Now India has already become the seventh
largest export destination for Korea," Prakash said. PTI AKV
