Fate of Vastanvi to be decided tomorrow
Deoband, July 23 (PTI) Decision on the fate of
Ghulam Mohammad Vastanvi, the vice-chancellor of Darul Uloom
Deoband, would be taken tomorrow by a three-member Majlis-e
Shura.
"The decision on Vastanvis's fate would be taken in
tomorrow's meet," acting vice-chancellor Mufti Abul Qasim
Nomani said.
The majlis-e-shoora or the governing council of the
seminary on Saturday met and discussed various issues, but the
subject of Vastanvi did not come up during the discourse,
Nomani said.
The report of the inquiry committee would be submitted at
the meeting of the Council tomorrow, he said.
According to the sources, there is no unanimity in the
three-member committee regarding the fate of Vastanvi.
Vastanvi, who is also an MBA, was elected VC on January
10 following the death of his predecessor Maulana Marghoobur
Rahman. He sparked a controversy, saying Muslims too benefited
from the development initiative of the Gujarat Chief Minister.
The governing council constituted a three-member
committee, comprising of Mufti Mazoor Ahmad from Kanpur, Mufti
Mohammad Ismail from Malegaon and Maulana Mohammad Ibrahim
from Chennai, to look into the allegations against Vastanvi.
