India condemns 'senseless' violence in Norway
New Delhi, Jul 24 (PTI) India on Sunday strongly
condemned the "senseless acts of violence" in Norway that
killed 92 people and said it was "shocked and saddened" by the
Friday attacks.
"We are shocked and saddened by the attacks in Oslo and
Utoya on 22 July 2011, which have led to loss of so many
innocent lives and injuries to scores other," the Ministry of
External Affairs said in a statement here.
Condemning the attacks, the ministry said, "The
government and people of India stand with the people and the
Government of Norway at this tragic juncture."
At least 85 people died in a shooting at a youth Labour
Party meeting on Utoya island, and seven more were killed in a
car bomb explosion which ripped through government buildings
in Oslo.
