Official expresses hope Bushehr power plant will become operational by Aug.

Tehran, July 27, IRNA – Spokesman of the Foreign Ministry Ramin Mehmanparast expressed hope Tuesday that Iran’s first nuclear power plant would become operational by the end of August.
“We hope that the Bushehr power plant would become operational by the end of the holy fasting month of Ramadan (late August),” the spokesman told reporters during his weekly press conference.
Mehmanparast added that construction operations of the 100-MW power plant “have almost become completed and it is currently in the testing stage.”
“Iranians would, by that time (late August), officially celebrate” coming into power of the Bushehr power plant, he added.
The power plant is located some 17 kilometers (11 miles) south-east of the city of Bushehr in southern Iran. It was built with the help of Russia.
“Talks are underway between Iranian and Russian officials for fixing a date for the power plant’s official inauguration,” Mehmanparast said.
Elsewhere, he confirmed structural changes made in Iran’s Foreign Ministry noting that they were made for further activating of the country's foreign diplomacy system.
As for a recent proposal on sanctioning some 26 American officials by the Iranian Parliament, the spokesman said, all bodies of the Iranian government, including the Foreign Ministry, were obliged to enforce and implement any law approved by the Iranian Majlis (Parliament)./end
