Iran-China trade exchanges to exceed $40b

Beijing, July 27, IRNA – Iran’s Ambassador to China Mehdi Safari said here on Tuesday that the value of trade exchanges between the two countries will exceed $40 billion by the end of the current Iranian year (to end on March 19).

Referring to the increasing trend of commercial exchanges between the two countries, he told IRNA that the value of exchanges has gone beyond $21 billion.

Stating that the West's unilateral sanctions were ineffective, Safari also said that statistics reveal a 46.5 percent rise in the economic exchanges of the two nations.

Western media have launched propaganda campaigns against Iran at a time when Tehran-Beijing ties are experiencing an increasing trend, he said.

He described Tehran visit of the member of the standing leadership committee of the China Communist Party, He Gu Chiang, meeting between the two countries’ presidents on the sidelines of Shanghai Cooperation Organization’s Summit and signing of several cooperation agreements in recent months as indicative of the two nations’ willingness to broaden bilateral ties.

Pointing to Iran’s non-oil exports to China, Iran’s envoy also said that carpet exports to the country hit $6 million in the past seven months, registering a considerable rise compared to the figure for the corresponding period last year./end
