Cong says Raja trying to mislead people

New Delhi, Jul 27 (PTI) Congress on Wednesday
dismissed attempts by A Raja to drag Indian Prime Minister
Manmohan Singh in the 2G controversy saying no one in the
country has the moral courage to challenge the honesty and
integrity of the PM.
"These are all issues before the court and we don't
want to comment on daily basis.... Lawyers of an accused use
all sorts of alibis to defent their client.... It is an
attempt to mislead the people," party spokesman Shakeel Ahmed
told reporters.
Denouncing any attempt to level allegations against
the Prime Minister, he said, "No one in the country has the
moral courage to challenge the honesty and integrity" of
Singh.
Ahmed was responding to questions about Raja's
argument as to why the Prime Minister did not constitute
Group of Ministers if he had no faith in him on the allocation
of 2G spectrum.
The spokesman refused to comment on former Telecom
Secretary Siddhartha Behura's contention in the court that he
was only a civil servant who had no role to play except
implementing the government's policy.
"These are matters for the courts to see," he said.
