PRESIDENT LEADS CABINET MEETING ON LEBARAN PREPARATIONS

Jakarta, Sept 16 (ANTARA) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono on Tuesday led a cabinet meeting to discuss preparations for the post-fasting month or Lebaran festivities.
"The main agenda (of the cabinet meeting this time) is discussing preparations to manage the activities and serve the needs of home-bound Lebaran travelers in the next few weeks," the president said moments before the meeting at the presidential office here.
The head of state expressed hope that the government would manage everything related to the movement of home-bound Lebaran travelers this year in a much better way than last year.
"Last year, we did the job well. And this year, we hope, we can do it at least equally well as last year while expecting there will be improvements here and there across the country," he said.
For their part, the relevant government agencies would prepare proper steps according to their respective function to handle all problems, the president said.
Tens of millions of people in the world's largest Muslim country are expected to leave the many cities in which they have been working to travel to their respective home towns or villages to celebrate the Lebaran festivities with relatives or old friends.
Also present at the cabinet meeting were Vice President Jusuf Kalla and all ministers of the United Indonesian Cabinet.
