PLN'S FUEL CONSUMPTION TO FALL TO 7.91 M KL IN 2009
Jakarta, Sept 16 (ANTARA) - State electricity company PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) has set its fuel oil consumption target for 2009 at 7.91 million kiloliters compared to more than 10 million kiloliters this year.
"The drop in fuel oil consumption in 2009 is thanks to the optimum use of gas and the operation of a number of new coal-fired power plants next year," PLN President Director Fahmi Mochtar said before a working meeting with the energy, mineral resource, research and technology commission of the House of Representatives (DPR) here Tuesday.
The 2009 fuel consumption would consist of 4.59 million kiloliters of high speed diesel (HSD) and 3.32 million kiloliters of marine fuel oil (MFO), he said.
He said 6.41 million kiloliters of the 2009 fuel consumption would be supplied by state oil and gas company Pertamina and the remaining 1.5 million kiloliters by other companies.
PLN would call a tender for the procurement of the 1.5 million kiloliters of fuel oil, he said.
"The HSD price is projected at Rp8,046 a liter and the MFO price at Rp5,763 a liter," he said.
PLN also has set the target of gas consumption for 2009 at 324,435 billion British thermal unit (BBTU) and coal consumption at 23.49 million tons.
It said coal prices would average Rp750,000 per ton and gas US$3.7 per million BTU.
The company expected electricity subsidy next year to reach Rp61.12 trillion.
The subsidy allocation would help PLN cope with a power growth of 6.99 percent and achieve a profit margin of 1 percent, he said.
